FAVOURITE PLACES TO STAY

In this blogpost we will show you our favourite places to stay around the world. The list ranges from 5-star high-end hotels to treehouses overlooking the sea and many more unique places.

This list will be updated continuously! So whenever we fall in love with a new place, it will be added.

One & Only The Palm – Dubai

Starting with this intimate beachfront resort situated on The Palm of Dubai! It is everything we didn’t expect to find in Dubai: beautiful, oozing class and almost no bling-bling.  While the rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable, we found ourselves spending most of our time at the stunning pool and in the amazing Guerlain Spa! The perfect hotel if you’re looking for calmness and privacy in Dubai.

The St. Regis Vommuli – Maldives

Where to start? A private island in the middle of the Indian Ocean which you can only reach by seaplane. It is surrounded by those wonderful blue Maldivian waters and they built the most beautifully decorated overwater villas on it. Add the most exquisite food and an array of (watersport) activities and you know you’re in for a treat. To top it all off you get a butler who can arrange just about anything for you and will pack and unpack your suitcase so you can enjoy every single minute you spend on the island. What’s not to like? Definitely one of our favourite places to stay around the world!

The Ritz-Carlton – Hong Kong

CLICK HERE to book this accommodation

The highest hotel in the world and one of the most luxurious ones we’ve had the pleasure of staying at. A very personal service, a stunning view (when you’re not surrounded by clouds), and probably the best bed we’ve ever slept in made for an unforgettable experience! TIP: For those in Hong Kong not fancying staying here for the night but still wanting to enjoy the amazing view, do not pay 25USD to go to the observatory deck on the 100th floor, but go to the rooftop Ozone bar on the 118th floor instead and enjoy the views over a cocktail or two!

Hôtel Lutetia – Paris, France

A beautiful white marble bathroom with Hermès toiletries, complimentary Bentley courtesy car that drops you off at a nearby restaurant or art gallery and unique fresco ceilings at Bar Josephine with live music… The newly renovated Hôtel Lutetia just oozes class. While the rooms are not the biggest (our Junior Suite measured just 50 square meters), they sure are beautiful and we had a (distant) view of the Eiffel Tower. It is the only true luxury hotel on the Rive Gauche in Paris and one we will definitely return to in the near future! This city hotel is definitely one of our favourite places to stay in Europe!

One & Only Royal Mirage – Dubai

Built on 65 acres of lavishly landscaped gardens and with a beach of more than 1 kilometer long, this resort is the complete opposite of it’s little sister (O&O The Palm) across the water. If you’re in Dubai and you want a resort with different swimming pools, a wide range of restaurants, a buzzing beach club and plenty of things to do, you’ve found the place to be! We only had one dinner here at their Tagine restaurant, and it was the best restaurant experience we had in at least 6 months!

SO/ Sofitel – Bangkok, Thailand

Probably the funkiest hotel we’ve ever been to and we absolutely loved it! It all starts when you sit down in the funky lobby for check-in and a staff member in an extravagant, yet elegant outfit, pours together your welcome drink. The contents of two test tubes from in chemistry class get mixed together and your drink changes colour like a chameleon. That’s what SO/ Sofitel Bangkok is all about: absolute craziness! Also, every single place in the hotel, from the rooms to the lobby, the pool and the rooftop bar boast spectacular views over Lumpini Park, giving you the feeling to be in New York City overlooking Central Park. By far our favourite Bangkok hotel!

QT – Perth, Australia

An Australian hotel group that’s all about quirkiness and it shows in every part of the hotel. From the doorman/woman in an all latex outfit with a wig to the extravagant (but stylish!) design of the rooms, this is a hotel you have to experience to believe! We especially liked the rooftop bar with cool views over the city of Perth. But beware if you’re not a guest of the hotel: during our weekend stay there, people were lining up outside to go to the rooftop! There are multiple restaurants and bars in the hotel and to be honest, you can’t do much wrong with any of them. We absolutely loved them all!

The West Coast of Australia will always be one of our favourite places to stay in the world! Our next trip is already booked!

The Strand – Yangon, Myanmar

This 5-star hotel with butler service transports you straight back to Myanmar’s colonial past. The rooms are large and comfortable, the location excellent, and the butlers will make sure everything will always be perfectly arranged. It has recently added a pool, which is perfect to take a refreshing swim after a day of sightseeing in busy Yangon! Don’t forget to have some amazing signature cocktails at the bar, which even has a live jazz-band on Wednesday!

Hilton Resort at Bell Rock – Sedona, USA

CLICK HERE to book this accommodation

We found the perfect hotel to relax after a long day of hiking the beautiful Sedona red rocks. The same red rocks we had a beautiful view of from our spacious room with a cozy gas fireplace! If you’re into sports, the gym is unlike anything we’ve ever seen, with an Outdoor Warrior Pit complete with tires, ropes, sledge hammers and anchors. Come as a man, leave as a beast! We’d definitely recommend spending one or multiple nights at the hotel bar where we enjoyed the most delicious cocktails and s’mores around one of the many firepits!

Grand Hyatt – Hong Kong

Looking for a hotel that serves delicious food AND makes you feel right at home? Look no further than the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Expect every guest to be treated like a king here, in the most relaxed atmosphere imaginable. Our room had amazing views over Hong Kong harbour and the afternoon tea with live piano will make you feel like you’re on the Titanic in the 1920s!

Hotel Gletscherblick – St. Anton, Austria

This family-run hotel knows how to treat its guests and if you want to stay here, you’ll have to book well in advance! Two things make this Alpine hotel really stand out: the spa and the restaurant. The beautiful and modern wellness area has everything to relax after a long day on the slopes, from steambaths and saunas to infrared cabins and even a dry salt grotto (don’t worry, we had no idea what that was before we got here)! After spending a couple hours in the spa, a 5-course Michelin-star meal awaits you every night. What else do you need?

Treehouse – Nusa Penida, Indonesia

You won’t find a better view anywhere in terms of value for money. Overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches of Indonesia, this no-frills treehouse is perfect if you’re on a budget. But beware: the photogenic view attracts a lot of tourists to your front door!
