The diversity of this country amazes us in many ways. You can drive for two hours and feel like you’re in a completely different world. From astonishing National parks to metropolitan cities… The USA has it all.
We know it can be quite hard to plan a roadtrip in the USA and know which spots to hit and which spots to avoid. That’s why we created this guide for you! After doing multiple roadtrips in Northern America, we will give you a few options depending on how much time you have and what your interests are so you can easily find out which USA roadtrip to choose!
HOW TO TRAVEL AROUND?
There are two options:
Option 1: You rent a regular car and sleep in hotels/motels.
Option 2: You rent a campervan and sleep on campsites.
We absolutely love travelling around in a campervan but for the USA we always rent a car and sleep in motels. While car rental companies aren’t the easiest to deal with (you can read plenty of horror stories online), we always use Sixt USA and never had a single problem with them! The great thing about roadtripping is that you can just stop wherever you like, whenever you want, and book a last-minute accommodation. 99% of the times, we book our hotels and motels with booking.com! They have great prices, a very functional app and an insane amount of properties, ranging from budget motels to high-end hotels but also bnb’s, apartments and villas!

WHAT DO I NEED FOR A USA ROADTRIP?
You definitely need a pass to visit the National Parks. It’s very easy to purchase this in the first park you visit. We advise you to buy an annual pass that includes all National Parks! When you get back home, you can give it to someone else who’s also travelling to the US.

WHICH ROADTRIP SHOULD I CHOOSE?
1. A 3-WEEK WEST COAST ROADTRIP
This 3-week roadtrip in the USA includes most of the highlights on the West Coast. Cities such as San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. National Parks such as Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Yosemite and more! If you like to see it all in once, this trip is for you!

2. A 2-WEEK WEST COAST ROADTRIP
This trip is a bit smaller than the 3-week roadtrip but you will still see a lot of highlights. This is perfect if it’s your first time roadtripping the USA and you only have a 2 weeks!

3. COAST TO COAST IN THE USA
You definitely need 3 months to do this trip! Be prepared for a lot of driviNg every day but you will see so much of this beautiful country! We are starting this trip in Vancouver (Canada), and are driving all the way down to LA, cross country towards the Carolina’s and all the way up to Washington DC or New York City. This is the trip of a lifetime!
